It happened around 3:30 p.m. at the SunTrust Bank on Rosemont Avenue in Frederick.
Chief Thomas Ledwell with the Frederick Police Department says the suspects fled the scene, and soon after there was a police chase.
Frederick Police Officers pursued the vehicle onto Rt 15 southbound, at which time the chase was joined by the Frederick County Sheriff's Office and Maryland State Police. The Maryland State helicopter also joined and assisted.
The chase continued onto county surface roads and into the city when officers had to slow their pursuit due to crowded roads and the danger posed to pedestrians.
Ledwell says the suspects were driving a white Honda Accord, and left it behind a business on the 100 block of South Market Street.
Police say the suspect vehicle recovered has Pennsylvania tags. The suspect in the robbery is described as a white male, medium height and weight with dark short hair. A second suspect in the vehicle is described as a black male.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Joseph Hayer with the Frederick Police Department Criminal Division at (301)-600-1265.
