The city of Hagerstown may be a step closer to revitalizing, after making an agreement with a group spearheaded by a local attorney. The group will devise plans for the Washington County Board of Education, along with facilities for Maryland Theatre and Meritus Health.
It's part of an effort to create a model for a public and private partnership to bring more growth to the downtown area.
"In the end, hopefully, it may turn out to be a great public private developer agreement, so we are excited over the different possibilities in bringing in different entities, "says David Gysberts, Mayor of Hagerstown.
The group, led by former Maryland Delegate Bruce Poole, will present its plan to the city in the next five weeks.
