Rt. 36 Shut Down After Tractor Trailer Accident

CUMBERLAND, MD - Just before 8 p.m. Friday night, troopers from the Cumberland Barrack responded to a tractor trailer accident.

Officials say the accident happened on Route 36 northbound at Mountain View Landfill.

According to an on duty dispatcher, the tractor trailer driven by, Gregory Skidmore, was traveling on Rt. 36 when he lost control of his vehicle and traveled onto the shoulder of the roadway. Skidmore tried to regain control and that is when the tractor trailer tipped over.

The vehicle was carrying 26,000 pounds of wooden pallets.

Rt. 36 was closed for about five hours while clean up crews removed the debris and a small fuel spill.

No injuries were reported in this incident. Skidmore was charged for the accident.
