FREDERICK COUNTY, MD- Police have identified the remains that were found last summer in Frederick County off New Design Road.

Police say the skeletal remains are Oscar Velasco Montano, of Va., and the case is now being investigated as a potential homicide.

Fairfax County Police say Velasco Montano was reported missing by family members in July 2011. Workers from a tree trimming company found the remains in August 2012.

They say the DNA matches to Montano. The man's family reported him missing under suspicious circumstances.

We reached out to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office for comment, but they say they are not handling the case.

Fairfax County Police say they are investigating the potential homicide.
