FREDERICK, MD -  Police arrested Alonzo Meadows in Southeast Washington, D.C. Wednesday around 3 a.m. for allegedly robbing the store.

"I was in my office and everybody hit the floor because that's what we were told to do and that's what we did," says store owner Patty Hurwitz.

The Frederick Police Department responded to the scene on Market Street around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon.

"A citizen was stopped at the traffic light at Patrick and Market Street when he observed three masked men entering the jewelry store, he saw one of the men produce a handgun and point it at the employee," says Lt. Clark Pennington, with the Frederick Police Department.

And that's when police say they were notified. Detective Mike Morgan ran to the store, and saw the three suspects leaving.

Police say he then followed them down an alley and managed to spot their black pick up truck, and license plate.

"We have been in Frederick for 65 years. This is our 65th anniversary, been in this store since 1998. This is the first time we've had an incident like this," says Hurwitz.

The store owners say they just want to move on, and they're thankful there were no injuries. They say all the help from Frederick Police and the overwhelming support they've received from the community is helping them get through this hard time.

"That's the kind of place Frederick is and times like this is when you really realize it," says Hurwitz.

The store was open for part of the day on Wednesday and fully reopens on Thursday.
