HAGERSTOWN, MD- The Maryland Correctional Institution received some new residents Thursday afternoon.

The prison welcomed five puppies; Larry, Annie, Ryan, Sunny, and Delta.

The pups came from the America's Vet-Dogs program. The program is founded by the Guide Dog Foundation for the blind and serves the needs of disabled veterans and active duty personnel.

The puppies will be trained by incarcerated veterans for about a year, then will go to wounded U.S. military veterans.

MCIH was the first prison to receive vet dogs when the program started with them last summer.
