MARTINSBURG, WV - Nathan Snyder and Christina Snyder were indicted in 2010, charged with 13 counts and five counts respectively of felony child abuse, causing bodily injury to the youngest four of their five children. They plead not guilty.

According to court records, the four children say their step-father and mother choked, punched, and burned them with cigarettes; shot them with BB guns and bottle rockets; beat them; and deprived them of food.

The allegedly abused children, and their ages at the time of police record, are an 8-year old girl, a 12-year old boy, and two 14- year old boys.

The girl told police that Nathan Snyder beat her on the leg so hard with a metal spoon that she bled and needed stitches.

Court records also point out that one of the teens says he was choked to the point of almost passing out. He also says he was woken up in the middle of the night and told to go to a neighbor's house to get beer and cigarettes.

Berkeley County Circuit Court says that because of the high number of witnesses in this case, along with trying two defendants together, the trial is expected to run up to three weeks.
