CAPON BRIDGE, WV - West Virginia State Police say just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, a car accident occurred on Smokey Hollow Road, four miles off of Route 50.

18-year-old, Hunter Crane of Whitacre, VA, was traveling north when his vehicle exited the west roadway edge, struck a utility pole, and rolled several times, before crashing into a tree and coming to a complete stop.

Crane was ejected as a result of the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.

Frederick County School officials have confirmed that Crane was a senior at James Wood High School. He was also a member of the varsity football team, according to the roster.

Officials are still unaware of what caused this accident.

The case remains under investigation.
