Boonsboro High School Track is Getting a Make-Over

BOONSBORO, MD - Washington County has received a $157,000 grant from the government through Project Open Space.

The funds will be used to refurbish the Boonsboro High School track this coming summer.

School officials say the track was built with previous funding from Project Open Space, back in 2001.

Boonsboro High's Track and Field and Cross Country team have more than 15 division 1-A State Championship titles and their athletic director says the grant is just as much a reward for the school, as it is for the recreation in the community.

"It is almost like a reward, but it's really a reward to the community because our community really uses this track a lot and that's the thing about Project Open Space is that it's open to your community to use," says Athletic Director Sue Lowery, at Boonsboro High School.

The funding was approved Wednesday by Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown and the Board of Public Works.
