BERKELEY COUNTY, WV - Tyler Munson has been sentenced up to 74 years in prison for robbing and assaulting 78 year-old Carroll Snyder last year.

Tyler Munson spoke in court for the first time, took responsibility for his actions and apologized for assaulting and robbing Snyder.

He blamed his drug addiction and says he's now sober.

The victim was not in court but some of his family members were. Snyder's daughter took the stand and explained the toll the crime has had on her family.

Her father had to undergo two brain surgeries. He also suffers from hallucinations and memory loss. Snyder now lives in northern Virginia.

The victim's family was happy with Munson's sentence and hopes it will bring them closure.

Munson will also have to pay over $4,000 in restitution.
