Students Support 93 Cents for Flight 93

CHARLES TOWN - Kids at Charles Town Middle School asked their teacher to help them recognize 9/11 heroes. 9/11 isn't a day they can remember, but now it's a legacy that continues with them.

The students were only babies when Todd Beamer and his fellow passengers on Flight 93 led a counterattack against the terrorists on their plane. But they've spent the past year working with their teacher to bring Beamer's parents to the school.

"It's incredible how they could come and tell their story to us and I just couldn't imagine how they would feel," says 7th grader Emma Espinosa.

Math teacher Crystal Muia told her class about visiting Shanksville on the 10th anniversary last year. Her students went home and watched YouTube videos from the day, and knew they wanted to do more.

The students joined the Beamer family to raise money for a new Flight 93 memorial at the site.

"Some of these young people who are helping finish the project, time flies, someday they're going to be there with their kids and their grandkids," says David Beamer. "And they'll be able to say, hey, this is important, we helped build it."

The movement to build a permanent memorial and museum for the heroes of that plane is called 93 Cents for Flight 93. Visit 93centsforflight93.org to help.
