"Things start to pick up around the end of October," says John Myers, of Not A Pawn Shop. "People are thinking Christmas, starting to put things on layaway, and start to buy stuff for the kids."
"Especially with the holidays coming up, we do see a lot of people purchasing that last minute Christmas gift," says Adi Kayed, owner of Jewelry and Electronics Exchange.
"Usually it's cheaper and you can put things on layaway," adds Andrea Gore, a local customer.
Some people say they are attracted to pawn shops since they can find things you wouldn't find in a normal store, like an old cocoa-cola bottle that was discontinued a few decades ago.
Resell stores also say they have items for a fraction of the price. Some of the more popular items sold for the holidays included video games and electronics. Like bog box stores, resell stores also have layaway programs if you're tight on cash.
"They'll bring in jewelry, their bracelets, necklaces, televisions or get a loan on it so they can buy gifts for their kids for their loved ones," says Myers.
Owners say residents can get some unique finds to wrap up for the season.
