HAGERSTOWN, MD - The news that Hostess is ceasing operations means the Wonder Bread shop in Hagerstown will be closing for good.

The store on Route 40 -- past the I-70 on-ramps -- has been in business for 81 years.  It will close permanently once it has sold its remaining stock, according to an employee.

"It's so sad because my kids never had a Twinkie before," says customer Mary Rearick.

Many customers rushed in to snag whatever was left of the Hostess products.

These frothy cakes with the famous cream fillings inside have become more than just a product. They are considered an American symbol that many remember while growing up.

"So rich... so delightful... I grew up on these things! To think you're gonna take that away from me. How can you?," says Twinkie fan Isaac Wilkes.
