SHIPPENSBURG, PA - An iconic auto company celebrates a monumental investment.

At Volvo's new Regional Americas Office for Constructional Equipment in Shippensburg, Pa., officials spoke about the potential for the new production line to positively impact the local economy.

"It's all about creating jobs in this globalized world and we are so happy that Volvo Group has been more or less behind 3,500 jobs here in Pennsylvania," says Swedish Ambassador to the United States Jonas Hafstrom.

It's called a wheel loader and they were initially made in Sweden.

Officials say there is a commitment to look to the local community to fill open positions, but there is also a hint that even more opportunities could be coming.

The ambassador says several Swedish companies have created about 10,000 jobs in Pennsylvania.

An iconic auto company?? Volvo automobiles was purchased by Ford in 1999, and then in 2010 sold it to a company in China. Volvo Construction equipment has nothing to do with the car company. You may want to do some research before you write a story, typical of the lousy reporting found here.
