WV Could Get Hit Hard in Drastic Federal Spending Cuts

WEST VIRGINIA- People around the country could face impacts over the drastic federal spending cuts set to start this Friday.
West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin spoke about the impact it'll have on the state. Some of those changes include cuts to head start and Meals on Wheels programs.
In addition, around 200 fewer low-income students in the state would receive financial aid for college.
"The way they're going to take effect is across the board nobody is spared. So if it's going to be five percent across the board in law defense, meaning it's not a defense budget, that's going to be devastating in a lot of areas that have already been cut, as you will say, to the quick," says Senator Manchin.
If the budget cuts go into effect, according to the White House, West Virginia will also lose $5.8 million for primary and secondary education.
