Winter Weather Advisory Issued; Wintry Mix Expected Overnight & Friday

HAGERSTOWN, MD - While most of the Northeast is bracing for a major winter storm that would leave historic amounts of snow behind, that storm will leave the four state region with a light wintry mix early on Friday and a few snow showers Friday night.

The National Weather Service has issued the following winter weather alerts for the WHAG Viewing Area:




A Winter Weather Advisory for the entire viewing area with the exception of Garrett County, MD until 10:00 AM Friday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Franklin, Fulton, and Bedford Counties until 7:00 AM Saturday for a coating to an inch of snow.

A coating to an inch of snow/sleet is possible to the east of Interstate 81 Friday morning. Scattered showers are expected for the afternoon as temperatures rise above freezing.

Overnight Friday, it will turn windy with scattered snow showers. A coating is possible in some spots. Western Allegany, Garrett, Western Mineral and Grant Counties will receive 3"-5" of snow by Saturday morning.
