FCC President Gone Only After A Couple of Months

FREDERICK, MD - Without spending even one year in the position, Frederick Community College President F.J. Talley has been replaced by Doug Browning effective January 3, according to the board of trustees.
Browning, the college's vice president for administration, will serve as interim president through June 30, 2014, according to FCC spokesman Mike Pritchard. The change in leadership comes after a personnel issue allegedly arose between Talley and the college's board of trustees.
"We wish Dr. Talley the best in his professional endeavors," said Dixie Miller, board chair. "We have tremendous faculty and staff, and we are confident that under President Browning's leadership there will be no disruption of services for the thousands of students who take classes on our campus."
Talley was named president in March, becoming the college's first African-American to serve in the position. His tenure at FCC began in July. Talley had signed a three year contract, which was subject to renewal by college trustees.
Talley filled the position vacated by Carol Eaton, who left the college in 2011 after six years as president. She went on the become president at Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, Fla. Now, President Browning will be taking the helm once again at FCC.
"I am committed to advancing the mission of FCC during this time of transition," Browning said. "I am honored to serve this institution as president and appreciate the board's confidence in my leadership."
