Annual Turkey Trot Draws in more than 2,000 Participants

HAGERSTOWN, MD - With a bright shining sun, a little bit of music, and hundreds of friendly faces. What more could a runner ask for at the annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day?
"Well it's a great way to start thanksgiving. I like to burn of the calories before the long day of feasting begins," says runner Kurt Redenbo.
For many the Turkey Trot is not just your average marathon. It's a time when the community comes together in high spirits. And to celebrate Thanksgiving some dressed up as pilgrims, Indians, and even a couple of turkeys.
"It's all about community and the college loves that community is our middle name. And to combine a food drive a recreation event and a community gathering all in one is absolutely terrific," says Dr. Guy Altieri, Hagerstown Community College President.
From pugs, to men dressed in turkey tutus, many say this is the largest turn-out they've seen at the Turkey Trot.
"When we count everyone coming it will be about 3,000 people making this one of the largest community events," says Altieri.
Trotting as an ever growing Thanksgiving tradition.
