Christoffel who has served as the Chief Health Officer for the Washington County Health Department for more than five years will be stepping down in less than three months.

On Monday his attorney sent out a letter to the county commissioners saying Christoffel will be retiring as of October 1st of 2006. The letter did not state a reason why Christoffel will be leaving the department.
