The Funkstown Fire Department had its annual open house on October 10 2009. There were Fire Engine Displays, Fire Truck Rides, Antique Fire Apparatus, Maryland CHIPS (child identification program), STAT MEDEVAC Helicopter , 911 call simulator, MD DNR Smokey the Bear, child saftey seat inspections, vehicle extracation demonstration, a Safety house and a firefighter challenge. There were also free hot dogs, sodas and snacks provided. The Fire Dept. hosted hundreds of guests of all ages who were able to see and experience what being a firefighter is all about.
