On Thursday morning a district court judge bound all charges against 22-year-old Robert Tomlin to circuit court.
The alleged incident happened on Crystal Falls Drive in July. Tomlin is accused of knocking down his girlfriend, 19-year-old Kelli Green, and kicking her several times in the head.
The attack caused her to temporarily lose hearing in her right ear.
He also allegedly threw four of her kittens into a fire pit, killing the animals. In court, a Washington County Sheriffs officer presented pictures of one of the burned animals.
Tomlin faces second degree assault, felony charges of animal mutilation, and possession of a destructive device. The defense asked for his bond to be reduced but the judge denied that request.
"The Judge Thomas declined to reduce the bond, even though the defendent didnt have any prior criminal conviction. It was based on the allegations as charged against the defendent. If they are true, they certainly raise a significant public safety issue," said Mark Boyer, Washington County Assistant States Attorney.
Tomlins trial date has not been scheduled yet.
