The Franklin County Commissioners decided on Tuesday afternoon that state Reprensentative Pat Fleagle can be a candidate this fall. Fleagle lost to newcomer Todd Rock in the republican primary last May.
Since so many democrats put his name down as a write-in candidate, he decided to run as a democrat.
Commissioners agreed that those write-in votes were valid. Election officials said Fleagle took in 339 votes while his opponent, Rock, came in just three votes behind him at 336.
"It appears that we won and I dont know if its by 1, 2 or 3 votes; thats up in the air. It does appear we will be on the Democratic ticket and I plan on starting that campaign right away and come what may, were going to go to November until something else stops us," said Pat Fleagle, (D) Franklin County.
Election officials said opposing candidate, Todd rock, has two days to appeal the commissioners decision.
