Flooding Aftermath Keeps Area No Kill Animal Rescue Still Closed

The owner said the damage is just devastating and she fears it may be months before she re-opens, that is if she re-opens at all. $50 to $60,000 worth of damage and an endless amount of debris is all thats left at no kill animal rescue. "I am just devastated. I have worked so long and hard to do this. I really think we have great thing going on here," said Samantha Frey, owner of the rescue. The nearly 200 unwanted animals that Frey has saved this past year are alive and safe but there are others like a beaver that wash up either hurt or dying from the polluted water. "It just astounds me how the wild life is being wiped out because of debris; obviously the water was phenomenally high so it displaced this little guy," said Frey. The idea of bringing the animals back to Greener Pastures is questionable. "It just kills me to think that I may not be able to do this anymore. I dont sleep, I dont eat, I do a lot of crying," said Frey. "The cleanup is monumental, it will take months. Im broken hearted. You cant help what Mother Nature throws out at you. Im just one person trying to do the best I can," said Frey. Frey said because her property is listed as a farm, insurance wont cover the cost to clean up. "Unfortunately because were a farm and zoned agricultural theres no way you can get any sort of reimbursement for any kind of water damage," said Frey. Rescuing her shelter is something Frey said shell make happen one way or another. "If its the last thing I do were gonna stay open, it might be on a smaller scale. I love animals so much. I refuse to give up," said Frey. If you would like to make a donation to help with the cost of rebuilding the rescue, you can send a donation to: Greener Pastures No Kill Animal Rescue P.O.
