Congratulations to the NBC 25 Student
Athletes of the Month. Our female Student
Athlete of the Month is Bethany Garnand, a senior at Smithsburg high
school.
"School comes first, I've always
been taught that since I was little," she says. "So even if it means staying up
until two in the morning to study for AP Bio, that's what you have to do, so
that's what happens."
Off the field
"I've always been interested in the
medical field. My grandmother is a
nurse, and I like biology, so I'm planning to major in biology and hopefully go
to med school."
Our male Student Athlete of the
Month is Mountain Ridge senior Cody Felker.
Cody is a three-year letter winner for the Miners, and has been a starter
since his sophomore year.
"School comes first, so I get that
done first, then practice, then outside I guess," says Cody "You've got to get your homework done... Then
practice.
Cody maintains a 4.0 G.P.A, is a
member of the National Honor Society, is a Maryland Distinguished Scholar, and
earned a "Minds in Motion" award in 2007.
He's planning to attend
"Ever since I was little I've been
outdoors, so I figure if I can get a job doing something I like, I should do
it, so if I can get into wildlife and fisheries, maybe DNR."
Congratulations to Bethany Garnand,
and Cody Felker, The NBC 25 Student Athletes of the Month.
