Police are warning people to be cautious. They say crime generally goes up in the spring and summer months.
The Frederick Police Department says they generally see an increase in small crimes, like car thefts and graffiti.
At a Frederick Neighborhood Advisory Council meeting Wednesday, the department said most of the vehicle thefts happen because people just don't lock their doors.
"We use bicycle foot and a lot of different approaches, but we're asking our citizens to help us out. Lock your car, take all your valuables out when your not with the car, it will greatly reduce their chances of becoming a victim and it'll help us out," says Sgt. Wayne Trapp of the Frederick Police Department
The Neighborhood Advisory Council, also known as NAC meets once a month to discuss initiatives in the community. The police department attends the meetings to discuss any concerns or crime in the area.
