Winchester City Council Votes for Pay Increase

WINCHESTER, VA- It looks like holding a seat in the Winchester City Council could be 'paying off' soon.
The council just voted Tuesday night to increase their pay, starting in July of 2015.
They based the salary off of the Frederick County Board of Supervisors. With the new increase, the mayor and council president will make $900 a month and each councilor will make $750 a month.
It's a $450 increase for councilors and a $500 increase for the mayor.
The vote passed 7-0. One councilor abstained and another was absent.
