Research conducted by the Journal of JAMA Psychiatry says people who were bullied could most likely be affected by an anxiety disorder as they grow older.
The study also indicates bullies have a good chance of developing antisocial personality problems down the line. The study concluded bullies who were also victims themselves are more inclined to have panic disorders and suicidal thoughts when they become adults.
"Whether it's due to fear of being rejected, or due lack of self confidence poor self esteem with major depression, there isn't the motivation to participate in social activity or any activity," says Dr. Amy Fox, a psychologist at Meritus Health.
The study was conducted on more than 1,000 subjects who were assessed four to six times between the ages of 9 and 16..then again from ages 19 to 26.
