CUMBERLAND, MD- Allegany County law enforcement officials are boosting their presence in the area to track individuals on arrest warrants, in an effort to keep the streets safe.

It's part of Operation Safe Streets in Allegany County.

The Sheriff's Office is teaming up with Cumberland City Police and other law enforcement agencies to find criminals in their area. With increased patrols, officials have made more than 30 arrests this week, and they say a large part had to do with tips from local residents.

"Many of them have multiple arrests and bonds, because of those reasons, we keep a close eye and look to apprehend them as we get additional warrants on them," says David Goad, the Project Coordinator of Operation Safe Streets

The project is funded through a grant from the Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention.
