WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD -The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a blaze that destroyed a historic building in Hancock.
The flames broke out just before 3 a.m. Monday on Canal Street and took just under an hour to put out.
Officials say the fire completely destroyed the Reel Deal Bait & Tackle Shop, a structure that's believed to date back to the C&O Canal Era.
They say two buildings next to it and the C&O Bicycle Shop also had exterior damage because of the flames.
The cause is still under investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Western Regional Office of the State Fire Marshal at 301-766-3888.
