Gun enthusiasts and local leaders gathered to protect their Second Amendment rights, saying it's extremely difficult to obtain a concealed-carry permit for a firearm in Maryland. One speaker even brought up the thought of moving out of Maryland, or the state seceding from the country, due to stricter gun laws.
"The law-abiding citizens, we're not the ones out there who are getting into trouble with these firearms anyways: 98 percent of the firearm problems, and the crime that comes from firearms, is in populations of 250,000 or greater; that's not the city of Hagerstown," says Art Thomm, Vice President of the West Virginia Citizens Defense League.
The crowd applauded when the topic of self-defense came up when a speaker said, "at home you are the first responder, otherwise you are the first victim."
