HAGERSTOWN, MD - Hagerstown Police have charged a man with attempted murder after a two-hour standoff Saturday afternoon.

Jenerette Dixon, of the 340 Jonathan Street, faces the charge after allegedly stabbing a younger female family member in the torso. Dixon, 38, is also charged with possession of a dangerous weapon.

Police say found the victim on the front porch of Dixon's home. She was taken to Meritus Medical Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Dixon barricaded himself in his house. Police arrested him without using force after several hours of negotiations with the swat team.

Jonathan Street near Church Street was closed for several hours during the standoff.
