After the unfortunate loss of power on Triumph and passengers spending days stranded on the ocean forced to live in unsanitary conditions, some local travel agents say they think the industry will not take a hit, and people will still continue to book with Carnival.
Travel agents say for the most part, people understand that it was just an accident.
According to the Cruise Lines International Association, from 2005 to 2010, there were only 16 marine related casualty deaths out of nearly 100 million passengers carried worldwide.
"We have had a couple of customers comment on the situation and glad that they were not that particular ship," says Belinda Stull of Travel Leaders. "Most of them are very cognizant of cruising they know that it's very safe."
Despite the incident, travel agents don't expect additional cruise deals from cruise line companies. They say with this is being the busiest time for the industry, many companies are already offering plenty of bargains.
