HAGERSTOWN, MD - Girls from the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County are listening to a message about inner beauty and grace at Potomac Bridals.

It's a message that's very person for Miss Queen State.

"Self-esteem is something that young girls have faced and people don't really get into it," says Audreanna Colombo, Miss Queen State.

Colombo says skinny models on the cover of magazines, and even Facebook pictures have negatively impacted her own self-esteem.

"People like myself have faced these struggles," says Colombo. "It's to let them know their coping ways and ways they can handle those self-esteem issues."

With her pageant walk and poise, Miss Queen State shares her lesson on beauty that's skin deep.

"We learned to have confidence and have a positive attitude," says Misty Babb, Boys & Girls Club of Washington County.

"It's not just about the clothes and how you walk it's attitude and personality," says Daquaina Cook, Boys & Girls Club of Washington County.

Miss Queen State shares a remedy she uses in her own home.

"Sometimes we have bad days and we don't feel that highly of ourselves," says Colombo. "I'm going to tell them to do notes and just put them on mirrors so every time they look up they'll see a note that reminds them how positive they are and something that they like about themselves."

Colombo says her notes often read "I love your smile."
