The town burgess and commissioners met with the board of county commissioners to request it.
"It's just about Middletown wanting to be able to have the ability to control their destiny and their future. It's a park now. It's going to be a park in the future. Middletown just wants to make it a part of their municipal boundary," says Blaine Young, (R) - president of the Board of Frederick County Commissioners.
The land would be in Middletown's boundaries.
"A, it mantains that it's going to be a park, but number two, it allows them to expand their jurisdictional boundaries if they ever want to do any additional annexations," Young says.
The Middletown burgess and commissioners will now begin discussing plans for the annexation.
