One Dead Following Crash In Frederick County

It happened by the Intersection of Route 26 and Albaugh Road just after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning outside Libertytown.
Police a 24-year old Sykesville, Md., man was driving a black 1995 Jeep Cherokee eastbound on Rt. 26 of Albaugh Road when he crossed the double yellow center line for unknown reasons and struck a black Saturn passenger.
Police say the Saturn was hit head-on traveling westbound on Rt. 26 at the time of the crash. The driver, a 49-year old Woodbine, Md., man was pronounced dead at the scene by Emergency Medical personnel.
Police say the driver of the Jeep was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma and is in serious but stable condition.
The names of the victims have not yet been released. Police say all lanes of Rt. 26 are now open, but were closed for more than three hours.
The Maryland State Police, Frederick Barrack, are continuing the investigation into the accident.
