MARTINSBURG, WV - The Martinsburg Police Department is actively trying to determine the identity of a man who was found dead behind a Wal-Mart Thursday morning.

The Medical Examiner's Office in Charleston conducted an autopsy on the decedent and ruled the death a suicide.

Officers found the man around 9 a.m. Thursday morning behind Wal-Mart on Foxcroft Avenue. They say he had been lying between stacks of recycled debris with a single gun shot wound.

The Medical Examiner's Office says it was determined that the body had been lying there since 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, January 15.

The Martinsburg Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in trying to find out the identity of the man. The photo provided was in the man's possession at the time he was found.
