Lieutenant Colonel Robert Turano is saying goodbye after more than 25 years of service.
Turano commanded the Hagerstown and Frederick barracks and kept moving up in the ranks, earning the title of Lieutenant Colonel in 2008. He also personally oversaw training and personnel as the Chief of Support Services.
Many say Turano was a vital figure in building the new Hagerstown barrack. He says leaving after all these years is bittersweet.
"I'm going to miss the quality of people, that we have here within our department and serving the public," says Lieutenant Turano. "The rewarding thing to me is really when you see some of the good things we have done in law enforcement."
Turano officially retires on January 1st.
