CUMBERLAND, MD - The Cumberland Police Department say a man is facing assault charges after he pushed and injured his wife.

It happened around 3 a.m. Tuesday, in the 1600 block of Frederick Street.

They say the victim told police her husband, Matthew Tomczewski, 20, assaulted her during an argument at their home. They say the woman had been pushed to the ground and suffered injuries.

Police say Tomczewski left the house prior to the officer's arrival, but was located nearby.

Tomczewski was arrested and charged with second-degree assault. Police say he was transported to the Cumberland Police Department for processing and then to Allegany District Court for his first appearance.

Tomczewski was released on personal recognizance.
