HANCOCK, MD - A Hancock woman has found a unique way to help people in her community.
Nancy Douglas opened a store called 'Pass It On' at 109 West Main Street.
No money is exchanged in the store. People donate different items they no longer need, and those items are free to the public.
Douglas is looking for donations of small appliances, books, jewelry, bedding, and furniture.
"We all have been blessed with many things in this life, and it's just our way of passing it on, paying it forward, making a different in someone's life, and that really brings joy to all of us," Douglas said.
The store is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Douglas hopes the shop can keep people on the spirit of giving well beyond the holiday season.
"When I look at things, I look at things on the small picture and not the large picture," Douglas said. "There's a need all over this world, but if we could just start small and work from there, I think so many people could benefit from this."
You can drop items off on Saturdays beginning at 8:30 a.m. Donations can also be given to Douglas Auto Body Shop from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
