Illegal Firearms Case Continues Against Sharpsburg Man

HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Sharpsburg man involved in a police stand-off last month was in Washington County District Court Wednesday.

Terry Porter, 46, is being charged with possession of firearms, among other firearms charges.

The charges come after police searched his home on November 29th and seized a number of firearms after an eight hour man hunt.

A judge granted Porter a continuance in his case. Many of Porter's family and friends were in the court room as a sign of support.

Neighbors say the incident has them concerned.

"They're very upset, a no-knock search warrant for someone we know as being a pretty friendly easy going guy, with a wife and three children, and to come in there and bang the doors down, they weren't even locked from my understanding," says Timothy Frenquist, a neighbor.

Porter was released on a $75,000 bond earlier this month. No trial date has been set.

Comments

If you're a convicted felon, it is against the law to be in possession of firearms. Even if you are a "nice" family guy. He knows the rules. I don't feel sorry for him at all.

Awesome. Another redneck with too many guns and not enough sense to dress properly for a court appearance. Nice denim shirt and jeans. Good Lord.
