FREDERICK, MD - A 17-year-old boy faces numerous charges after police say he shot another teen in the chest Wednesday afternoon.
Dylan Gray faces four charges, including first degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a handgun in commission of a violent crime, and handgun on person (wear, carry, transport handgun).
Frederick City Police responded to a home along the 400 block of Hillcrest drive just before 5 p.m.
Investigators say the 16-year-old victim went into the home, and an argument broke out between the two teens. They say Gray showed a handgun, threatened the victim, and then shot him once in the chest.
The victim was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma, where he is in stable condition.
"The investigation progressed with the help of the community. The neighbors were able to come forward, cooperated with the investigation, and provided information that helped us come to a closure, so for that we're very thankful for the cooperation that we received," says Lt. Clark Pennington, spokesman for the Frederick City Police Department.
Pennington says a handgun was used in the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Steve Petruzzello at 301-600-4110. People can report their tip anonymously at 301-600-TIPS.
