BOONSBORO, MD- The new Boonsboro Chief of Police has been on the job for only a couple of weeks, but Chuck Stanford says he's ready to tackle citizen's concerns head on.

Chief Stanford spoke to WHAG on Thursday about his objectives. He says minimizing the high traffic volume along main roads and cracking down on illegal drug activities have been a focus.

Stanford has nearly three decades of police experience, which include a stint as the chief of police for the town of Smithsburg.  He says with his background as a small town chief, he's well prepared for the new position.

"It's gives me an idea of what small town expects from their police department and it gives me some endeavors to help transition this department in the direction to community policing," says Chuck Stanford, Chief of Boonsboro Police Department.

Stanford says as the town of Boonsboro grows, he would like to see growth in the police department personnel as well.
