Luke Massey, 17, will serve as the student representative to the board through February.
Massey is currently a senior at Preston County High School and ranks in the top six percent of his class. Massey is involved in a number of organizations within the school, such as Key Club and Newspaper Club.
"I want to give Preston County a greater voice in the affairs of education," says Massey. "I hope that I am better able to serve the community and county, which have given me so much these last 17 years."
Massey's future plans include attending college for business, mortuary, and political science. He says his time at the West Virginia Board of Education will prepare him for his future endeavors.
"I want to become a funeral director and a politician," says Massey. "I feel that working with the Board of Education will give me knowledge on how to work with people."
