HAGERSTOWN, MD - Every Wednesday WHAG and Soldier Fit honor a service member or veteran in our community. This week's Hometown Hero is Col. David Ramsey.

Col. Ramsey, of Hagerstown, just retired from the Maryland Army National Guard with 30 years of service.

Ramsey was commissioned in 1986 and served as company commander for the officer's Candidates School, where he helped 800 soldiers receive commissions.

Ramsey also served in Iraq and Afghanistan. His family describes him as a dedicated son, self disciplined, and very motivated.

WHAG loves to hear about any and all veterans. You can help honor our nation's heroes by just clicking "Community" then "Hometown Hero" to send in your submission.

I like to see these stories. Could we please honor more of our forgotten men and women, those who served the forgotten wars like Vietnam, Desert Storm and Korea. These people didnt even recieve a proper welcome home or thanks.
