The Washington County Sheriff's Department is starting to use electronic citations called E-Tix. The system is to help improve safety by reducing the amount of time police officers and drivers spend on the road.
There is a data computer and with a scanner it can collect information from the driver's license barcode. Some officers say it can reduce the amount of time more than half.
"It also allows you to maintain eye contact on the individual that is in the vehicle, and that's very important because we can't see if they have anything in their compartment or they're hiding something," says Deputy First Class Carly Hose, Washington County Sheriff's Dept.
