HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Williamsport Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting took place Friday night.

One family decided to go to the parade night to start spreading their holiday cheer.

"We wanted to come and do something fun for Christmas," says Kelly Passarelli from Boonsboro. "Twenty minutes away is great, and why not? It's a parade."

Like the Passarelli's thousands of people made their way to Williamsport for the parade, making it one of the town's busiest nights.

"I wanted to wear a Santa hat and my mom bought me this Christmas crown to wear on it," says Julianna Passarelli.

Locals from Williamsport say they've been marching in this annual parade for more than 25 years.  They bring their cars, fire trucks, tractors and more.

"We've been talking about the Christmas Parade all day and getting him ready for it," says Kelly of her four-year-old son. "So looking forward to seeing all the floats."

The grand finale of the night, Byron Park lighting up for a light show spectacular, which also marked the beginning of this magical season.
