Washington County Man Juggles Volunteering at 12 Organizations

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD - Volunteering ones time to an organization can make a big difference in
the community, but can you imagine being part of 12? Noel Williams tells
WHAG how he juggles his volunteer time in Washington County.
"When I first moved my boss gave me some advice," says Williams. "His advice was number one get involved in the community find a good church and find a recreation."
And that's exactly what he did, in fact he found 12 of them.
"He doesn't just show up and say here I am," says Becca Bufor. "He shows up and says what can I do?"
This Dallas native doesn't mind rolling up his sleeves and getting a little dirty.
"They call it the sweat equity where you get in there and sometimes people think that if I don't have a lot of money I cant do anything to help people," says Williams. "Well just showing up and doing things can sometimes be more valuable than monetary donations."
Williams sits on several committees for different non-profit organizations, but it's under his leadership that Habitat for Humanity is able to give back, more than ever.
"We have gone from building two houses, putting two families per year in the houses, to this year we are looking at putting six families into houses, and Noel has been a big part of that," says Bufor.
"He's the grease in the whole wheel that makes it actually roll," says Sherry Brown Cooper, Habitat for Humanity.
Bufor has known Noel for almost 20 years now. She says his nature hasn't changed a bit.
"Same as in kind and giving, but a lot busier than when I first met him," says Bufor.
"Every aspect of his life and everywhere he goes he's always helping others and I cant say enough about him i absolutely love him," says Cooper.
But helping others is something that feels natural to Noel.
"When you go out and you do things you and work with different groups, and you volunteer you don't expect to end up where I am right now," says Williams.
A true unsung hero, congratulations from WHAG.
