Grant Helps Low-Income Families Pay Their Heating Bill

However, there is help for families below the poverty level, thanks to $66 million in federal energy assistance.
Officials say the money will go towards helping low-income families pay their heating bills and could save them a couple of hundred dollars during the winter season. They say the assistance will be given to families who apply on a first serve basis.
"Someone who is struggling to make ends meet, they may have other bills that they have to pay," says David Jordan, the Executive Director of Washington Community Action Council. "This allows them to have some disposable income, because they are getting some help with their utility costs."
