TRAFFIC ALERT: Tractor Trailer Jackknifes on I-81

By: Pieter Bickford
Updated: November 16, 2012
BERKELEY COUNTY, WV - A tractor trailer jackknifed on Interstate 81 near Martinsburg, jamming northbound traffic Friday afternoon.

The tractor trailer was on its side near Exit 14, slowing traffic between the Virginia line and Martinsburg.

Several other vehicles were involved in the accident, according to rescue crews on the scene.

It happened around four o'clock Friday afternoon  The accident was cleared by 5:30 p.m.

Comments

The vehicle accident occurred first very suddenly. The tractor trailer had to break quickly to avoid a larger accident. The trailer jackknifed in the ditch. The tractor trailer was not on its side, only tilted from being on the bank. Yes, the interstate was backed up due to needing to clear the tractor trailer from the road but the tractor trailer did not cause the accident. This new post is not accurate.
