SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV - It's the Rumsey Radio Hour! A time when locals broadcast their version of "Old Time" radio.
All music, writing and acting are original works. The show first started in 1989.
"It is a rarity to have such incredible talents," says Adam Booth, pianist, writer and actor. "There's so many different talented people in one place in our area that have worked so hard to make a show like this come together."
You can expect some West Virginian flair, news satire and recurring characters like Pirates of the Potomac.
"We have Cletus and Clyde back and they always do a little bit every year," says Jeanne Muir, Production Assistant. "We have Dr. Lucas Returns but we always get some new things in though depending on what the political environment is."
When it began, the show was taped and played over the airwaves monthly on 14 stations in seven states. Now, it's an annual show benefiting the local town.
"A good time poking fun at ourselves and some other people, having some music and having some laughs and sharing that with our community." says Muir.
Some long time attendees say they like to close their eyes and relive the old days of radio, and celebrate the medium.
The Friday night show begins 8 p.m. at the Opera House, 131 W. German St. in Shepherdstown.
The Saturday night show begins at 8 p.m. at Shepherd University's Frank Center.
Advance sale tickets $15 each or two for $25. They're on sale at the Shepherdstown Library, Four Seasons Books, or Thomas Shepherd Inn.
